Highlights of our Italy Trip!
We had a wonderful time and the weather was absolutely perfect in the mid-seventies every day. We very much appreciate all you did to make this trip go well.
The Virtuoso product was outstanding!
The Waldorf Cavalieri was spacious and Alcove Suite was 800+ square feet with a large bath. The entire room was decorated with magnificent artwork with ritzy renaissance gold trim but very comfortable.
The suite gave us access to the executive lounge with great views of Rome, including St. Peters Basilica within walking distance. Free food and drinks, too! We ate at L’Uliveto three times. It was absolutely superb food in an outdoor venue with live entertainment.
As for the tours, Antonella was great. Surprised that she was from Richmond originally! We had a lot of fun. She and Karen would not get in the Roman bath for a picture, though!
Stayed in the Heart of Florence
Now on to Florence and JK Place. We took the high-speed train per your recommendation and enjoyed the ride and service. It was very comfortable.
JK was in the heart of Florence and with only 20 rooms just 2 blocks from the Duomo. By the time we left, we were very familiar with the staff. Again, excellent food and cossetting service. Prompt to fulfill your any request. Great bottle of wine and gift awaited in the room.
And the view from the penthouse: only one word: “Incredible”! We overlooked the tile rooftops of medieval Florence and could see the dome of the Duomo.
We had breakfast on our private balcony in perfect weather. Great food and wine at Buca Mario and Il Parione which is just a block from JK. I had the “steak Florentine” the specialty but could not eat it all!
Tuscany Countryside
On to Castel Monastero which is located just south of Sienna in the heart of Tuscany. Castel Monastero was very different from both JK and Cavalieri. A bottle of good Tuscan wine and a gift was waiting for us in the room plus the room upgrade. We actually stayed in our own villa with a wonderful view of the pools and the Tuscan countryside. Great food and service as you might expect.
The Virtuoso product included a wonderful lunch with excellent wine on the outside on the terrace. On the final full day, we went to Sienna by taxi. Glad we did. A very interesting and unique town with lots of hills.
We flew back out of Florence via Swiss Air through Zurich to London. Overall it was a great trip! We were extremely happy with all three hotels. We had nothing but great service, food and tours. I will stick with Virtuoso and Covington!
Could not have done it without you.
Molte grazie!!
