Riviera Maya

Campeche
Immerse yourself in an odyssey full of landscapes where water and vegetation, archaeological sites and colonial monuments abound. Campeche’s cultural richness is created by a fusion between Maya and Spanish traditions, cultures, folklore, and music and is unique in the world.
Mexico’s Colonial Side
For true Old World charm, few places can compare to Mexico. Great cities, grand monuments, cathedrals and plazas sprang up across New Spain from 1519-1821 and still stand as a testament to the country’s wealth of silver and other resources. To get a feel for Mexico’s colonial side, the Mexico Tourism Board recommends cities such as:
Guanajuato
This enchanting Central Highlands city with its pastel-painted skyline inspired muralist Diego Rivera, who was born here. At the height of the rush, Guanajuato’s mines produced one-fifth of the world’s supply — and financed magnificent structures such as the ornate San Cayetano Temple.
San Miguel de Allende
Another colonial Highlands town and a major stop along the former Antigua Camino Real silver trail, San Miguel has long been a hub for expatriate artists, writers and musicians. An abundance of hot springs and a year-round mild climate make it even more alluring.
Weather
Despite major regional differences in weather, the best time to visit Mexico is mid-September through mid-May, although keep in mind the Atlantic hurricane season doesn’t end until November. It actually rains the most during the summer, but usually not often enough to spoil a vacation.
