2016 has been an amazing year for Covington travelers. Our travel advisors planned destination weddings, orchestrated family reunions, and fulfilled bucket lists with impeccable detail. They used their extensive expertise and industry connections to create custom-designed trips infused with the travelers’ personal interests. To give you some ideas for your own travel, here are a few of the remarkable trips Covington advisors planned this year.
Rosemary H – One of the most interesting trips I designed this year was a visit to Ukraine, Moldova, and Belarus with a focus on history and current political issues. Private drivers and guides allowed every moment to be customized with walking tours, excursions and even a visit to Chernobyl. I arranged personal meetings with a Holocaust survivor and WWII vet in Belarus, political analyst Roman Lipinski in Kiev, and a Peace Corps volunteer and a monk in Moldova. The complex itinerary ran smoothly from start to finish, including multiple border crossings.
Doug F – I arranged a trip around the world for my clients to see incredible beauty in many forms. It started with the magnificent scenery of the Rocky Mountaineer train experience from Calgary to Vancouver, Canada. Next, they spent time in Japan exploring the ancient culture, then visited the classic European cities of Vienna and Prague before returning home. 32 days, three continents, four countries, and about 30,000 miles!
Kim S – I had the privilege of designing a customized trip to England for a multi-generational family of 10 to celebrate the 50th wedding anniversary of the grandparents. They visited London, Oxford, and Stratford-upon-Avon, learning and laughing together while making family memories that will live on for years after the trip.
Anita N – I planned the best vacation ever – for myself! I went to the three-night classic rock concert, Desert Trip, in Indio, California. 75,000 other music fans were there, as well, to see the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Paul McCartney, Neil Young, Roger Waters and the Who. I stayed in the very small Springs Resort and Spa in Desert Hot Springs for the perfect combination of Zen relaxation during the day and hard rock at night.
Valerie A – This was a year of adventure for my clients. One couple celebrated his retirement with a dream trip to Africa. They took a two-week Micato Hemingway Wing Safari with luxurious tented camps and ballooning over Kenya. Other clients took unique cruises this year. A couple took a once-in-a-lifetime voyage to the top of the world on a Northwest Passage sailing, while another had a “WOW” experience on a Silversea expedition cruise to Antarctica.
Liz P – One fantastic trip I planned included everything from tropics to glaciers. My clients spent four days basking in the sunshine on the beautiful beaches of Fiji, then continued on to New Zealand for a 12-day self-drive exploration of the South Island.
Tracy C – I arranged a mountain climbing expedition for two brothers who successfully summited Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. The physical challenges and unparalleled experience gave them a triumphant sense of accomplishment (and bragging rights) that will remain a lasting memento of their adventure.
Karen K – My clients took a truly epic and bespoke adventure – Around the World by Private Jet with National Geographic. In 24 days, they visited 12 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Machu Picchu, Angkor Wat, the Taj Mahal, and the lost city of Petra. They discovered the giant moai statues of Easter Island, took game drives in the Serengeti Plain, and snorkeled on the Great Barrier Reef, all the while accompanied by National Geographic experts. Now that’s the way to check off a bucket list!
Jean R – This had been a year filled with awesome and adventurous clients. For the first time in my travel career, Cuba has become accessible to U.S. travelers, and I’ve helped several check it off their bucket lists. I’ve also sent travelers to far off lands like China, Australia, Africa and the Philippines to name a few. They’ve sailed the Atlantic, the Pacific, the Amazon River, and the Galapagos; the great European rivers like the Danube, the Rhine, the Seine; and closer to home, the Hudson River and the Great Lakes. Some have traveled solo (and loved it!), and others with friends or family. Some enjoyed the good ole’ U.S. of A. traveling to Hawaii, the Grand Canyon and celebrating 100 years of our National Parks. Others made little ones’ dreams come true when they saw their favorite Disney princess face to face for the first time. Can I pick just one from all of the remarkable trips that I booked this year? Sorry, no luck… they are all amazing to me.
