One of the (many) great pleasures of luxury cruising is the opportunity to dine on inspired gourmet cuisine paired with exceptional wines and attentive service, all in an elegant setting. Some of my dear readers might routinely enjoy this privilege at home, but since I am the chief cook – not chef – and server of the Travel Maestro household and my tastes far exceed my culinary skills, I take great pleasure in a fine meal at a stylish restaurant. To my great delight, Regent Seven Seas restaurants include all of the elements that elevate a meal into a gastronomic experience.
It’s all included at Regent Seven Seas restaurants
When I say ‘include all the elements,’ I mean no additional charges for reservations at the chic alternative restaurants, nor the exquisite cuisine prepared by celebrated chefs, exceptional wines from around the world, or gratuities for the impeccable service – it’s all included in the cruise price!
Regent Seven Seas restaurants practice open seating, meaning you can dine at the time you choose, with whom you choose. During dining hours, simply arrive when you like (some restaurants require reservations) and the Maitre D’ will seat your party, whether you want a romantic table for two or a larger one to share with new friends.

Prime 7 is a classic steakhouse with an intimate elegance. The leather wingback chairs and handsome décor give this venue the feel of a private club with a contemporary flair. The menu includes a wide selection of USDA Prime beef cuts or you might choose Colorado Double-Cut Lamb Chops or Oven-Roasted Organic Free-Range Chicken. Traditional starters and sides, such as jumbo lump crab cakes and loaded baked potatoes redefine ‘comfort food.’ Prime 7 is open only for dinner and requires reservations.
Signatures offers authentic French haute cuisine that rivals the best Parisian restaurants. Every dish, from Foie Gras Terrine with Plum Marmalade to Rack of Lamb with Morel Mushrooms, is prepared as a work of art and paired with the perfect French vintage selected by the sommelier. Just thinking about tenderloin of veal, tomatoes stuffed with eggplant caviar and shallots braised in red wine makes my mouth water! Signatures is only open for dinner aboard Seven Seas Mariner and Seven Seas Voyager and requires reservations.
Compass Rose is the flagship Continental restaurant aboard all Regent ships. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring a wide range of European-inspired favorites, flavorful vegetarian dishes and nutritious Canyon Ranch SpaClub® specialties. Compass Rose has a sophisticated atmosphere and welcomes guests during serving hours without the need for reservations.
La Veranda offers regional specialties from the countries the ship is visiting in a buffet style. The shaded, open air veranda provides al fresco seating for breakfast and lunch, although the space is popular any time of day. At night, the space is transformed into Sette Mari at La Veranda, serving authentic Italian cuisine. A range of exquisite antipasti is served in the communal style and classic entrée specialties, individually prepared with the freshest ingredients, are served á la carte by attentive wait staff. Sette Mari is open only for dinner and does not need reservations.
The Pool Grill is a casual, open-air dining venue on deck that serves hamburgers, pizza, sandwiches, salads and ice cream. Walk over from the pool or stop in after a trip to shore for lunch or a snack during much of the day.
The final dining option that is offered on Regent – and practically never at the Travel Maestro household – is Room Service. There is an extensive menu available around the clock plus during dining hours, guests can order from the daily Compass Rose menu. On Regent, even in-suite meals are graciously served course by course!
I’m sure you can see why this cook-of-limited-skill practically drools with anticipation at the thought of the fabulous Regent Seven Seas cuisine and service. If you also appreciate a fine dining experience, treat yourself to one of the best at sea and let one of the Covington Cruise Specialists arrange a Regent Seven Seas cruise for your next vacation.
